Tina Schwarz, Title and Date Unknown, Mixed Media on Canvas
Tina Schwarz is a German artist who recently spent some time in Los Angeles, completing a residency at Hooper Projects. She is inspired by the drawings and graphics of the Old Masters, whose basic designs she deftly sketches on paper or utilizes as the starting point for her paintings. She combines these motifs with a theme that is both contemporary and timeless: the link between history and current events, which she creates by establishing reference points between, for example, current political developments and philosophy or artists such as Goya.

This eight year old blog relocated from Tumblr to WordPress in December of 2018. Raised in New Jersey, I studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. Now retired, I was a high-end fine art framer who did gallery and museum work. My interests and studies run a wide gamut which includes art, history, film history, philosophy, and oriental / indigenous cultures. My wish is that my posts pique the interest of viewers and encourage more exploration.
