Wooden Shutters on Merchants’ Stores, Ponte Vecchio, Florence, Italy
The Ponte Vecchio is a medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy, noted for still having shops built along it, as was once common. Butchers initially occupied the shops; the present tenants are jewelers, art dealers and souvenir sellers. The bridge is mentioned in the aria “O Mio Babbino Caro” by Giacomo Puccini.

This eight year old blog relocated from Tumblr to WordPress in December of 2018. Raised in New Jersey, I studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. Now retired, I was a high-end fine art framer who did gallery and museum work. My interests and studies run a wide gamut which includes art, history, film history, philosophy, and oriental / indigenous cultures. My wish is that my posts pique the interest of viewers and encourage more exploration.
