English photographer Eadweard Muybridge lay the foundations for motion picture with his pioneering experiments with moving images. This Image of the two blacksmiths is composed of multiple photographic images shown through a zoopraxiscope, a machine of Muybridge’s own invention regarded now as an early movie projector.
