Bobovišća ia a village located near Supetar on the west coast of the island of Brač. It is located on a cove that branches into two ports, Bobovišća na moru and Vičja luka.

Village of Povlja

Povlja is one of the small towns located on the coast area of Brac, which is just off the coast of Croatia and linked by car/passenger ferry to the city of Split. These photos were taken at the beginning of October so there were very few tourists on the island. If you are a cyclist and really like hills, I recommend this island. Lots of great small towns, good food, narrow twisting roads that seem to always go uphill. Friends and I had a great time eating at Dvi Palma, a small restaurant owned by a very friendly older couple. You must call ahead but they will arrange a great meal with homegrown vegetables and wine. The only caveat is that it is very hot in the middle of summer so plan a trip accordingly.

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner

“Deutsch: Nollendorfplatz” reveals Kirchner’s shift in subject matter from the female nude to depictions of the metropolis. Here, the perspective is skewed, a clear rejection of his previous study of architecture. The quick, gestural use of line creates a sense of immediacy and speed within the piece, capturing the essence of a busy German city. The use of clashing blues and yellows to depict the cityscape is typical of Kirchner’s style during the Die Brucke years, though the distorted imagery of the city may also have been inspired by an exhibition of Italian Futurist art that he saw in the year that this was painted.

Aescher Restaurant and Guesthouse

This fabulous and magnificent Aescher Hotel is located near Wildkirchli and just below the Ebenalp cliff. Ebenalp is the northernmost peak of the Appenzell Alps of Switzerland. Wildkirchli is a combination of three caves in the Alpstein massif of Appenzell. This marvelous mountain guest-house and hotel was built during 19th century.
